William Christie (Serjeant-at-Arms)

William Sydney Christie (1863 – 1922) was an Australian public servant who served as Serjeant-at-Arms of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly.
==Early life==
He was born in 1863〔(BDM – Births ) Retrieved 30 November 2013.〕 at St Peters, New South Wales, and was the son of William and Ellen Christie. Christie was educated at Newington College, commencing in 1875 during the headmastership of Dr Michael Howe,〔Newington College Register of Past Students 1863-1998 (Syd, 1999) pp35〕 and on leaving school at 17 years of age spent some time in rural pursuits with his father, who was a pastoralist and surveyor.
